Today the calendar does the heavy lifting: August 2, 2026 is the day the EU AI Act stops being a slide deck and starts being a complaint you can file.

Practical sequence for Monday:

  1. Inventory every conversational surface employees or customers touch — sanctioned and not.
  2. Make disclosure a platform primitive (middleware / SDK default), not a one-off copy change in one app.
  3. Gate publish paths for generated image/video/audio on label + machine-readable mark.
  4. If you are a GPAI provider: map Code of Practice posture vs “prove it yourself,” and keep EU SEND submission paths warm.
  5. Do not assume Omnibus bought you chatbot-disclosure runway. It bought high-risk runway. Different bucket.

OpenAI’s cost line is the engineer-catnip detail: ~2,000 USD of tokens at Sol API rates to find the solutions (not the full scientific process). They also released reasoning walkthroughs and are explicit about attribution norms — model-generated arguments, human manuscript/Lean responsibility, engagement with community concerns (Leiden declaration territory).

- Lean cert ≠ "AI replaced mathematicians"
- Lean cert  = machine-checkable certificates on specific claims
- Watch for community verification + follow-on papers (already sprouting around earlier geometry work)
- Parallel to agents: formal artifacts beat vibes on both compliance and research
